Dahlen is currently hitting at a .237 pace with 9 home runs and 36 RBIs. |  | Saturday, August 1st, 2009: Paige Mystifies Charlotte In a splendid 4-0 shutout performance, Satchel Paige of the Philadelphia Ringers subdued the Charlotte Cougars on a 2-hitter.
His manager said in postgame comments, "He kept hitting his spots and putting up zeroes."
Paige registered 10 strikeouts and 1 walk.
This season Paige has a 9-6 record with a 3.60 ERA in 24 starts. |  | Wednesday, July 29th, 2009: Dahlen Belts 3 HRs Bill Dahlen was in a home run mode today at Cougar Field. The Charlotte shortstop massacred Racers pitching, cracking out three home runs and going 4-4 with 4 RBIs and scoring 3 runs. But this sensational performance didn't really matter. Louisville won the ballgame 6-5 despite the three homers.
"I wish a big 'W' had come with this," he said. "It's great to hit three homers, but the bottom line is whether you win or lose."
Nonetheless, Dahlen will now have a place in the league record book.
"I guess when you're hot, you're hot," he said. "I'm not going up there trying to hit home runs. I put the good part of the bat on it and luckily three of them went out today."
B. Dahlen hit a solo-shot off N. Cuppy in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off N. Cuppy in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off N. Cuppy in the 5th, singled in the 7th and walked in the 9th.
